Karin Piscitelli returns to the Boston Breakers as the Director of Sponsorship and Marketing Communications, a similar role to the position she fulfilled in the initial launch of the Women’s United Soccer Association from 2000-2003. Her responsibilities in the new organization will include management of the sponsorship sales and corporate partnerships, as well as marketing, media and public relations.
Karin has 20 years of marketing experience and brings a unique sponsorship perspective to her role at the Breakers. She has held various positions in Marketing, Advertising and Sports Marketing agencies and also has served on the corporate marketing side in sponsorship, event marketing, promotions and integrated marketing. Karin was nominated to serve on the Steering Committee of the Boston Chapter of the National Sports Marketing Network, and has participated on a number of marketing, sponsorship marketing and women’s sports marketing panel groups.
Most recently Karin was with New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. where she was the Director of the Integrated Marketing group responsible for the company’s sponsorship, promotions and cross-channel integrated marketing initiatives. She has fulfilled similar roles in corporate marketing at both Reebok International and Volant Ski Company (formerly in Denver, Colo.).
Karin began her career in 1987 on the Agency side, holding Account Management positions at HBM/Creamer (then Della Femina McNamee WCRS, all now part of Arnold Worldwide) and Bronner Slosberg Humphrey (now Digitas). In her combined eight-year tenure at these agencies, Karin served such clients as AT&T, Lotus Development Corporation, Disney and American Express. After venturing to the corporate world at Reebok and Volant, Karin returned to Digitas to help launch a newly formed Sports and Entertainment Marketing group and held a senior management role on the Pontiac-GMC sponsorship, events and promotions account.
Karin is a former high school and college-club soccer and lacrosse player. She graduated from Indiana University in 1987 and currently lives in Hamilton, Mass. with her husband and their two daughters.
