FC Gold Pride added Greer Barnes as a developmental player.

June 29, 2009:
Los Angeles Sol agrees to provide to Sky Blue FC the 3rd round draft pick in the 2010 draft.  In exchange for these selections, Sky Blue FC agrees to provide to the Los Angeles Sol all rights and responsibilities to Christie Shaner.

June 29, 2009:
Los Angeles Sol listed Martina Franko as having a season-ended injury.

June 26, 2009:
Saint Louis Athletica traded Francielle, Kerri Hanks and the rights to international discover player Renata Costa to Sky Blue FC for Sarah Walsh, the rights to international discovery player Ester and a conditional draft pick.  If Sky Blue FC signs Renata Costa on or before December 1, 2009, Saint Louis Athletica will receive Sky Blue FC’s 1st round draft pick in the 2011 WPS Draft.  If Sky Blue FC does not sign Renata Costa on or before December 1, 2009, Saint Louis Athletica will receive Sky Blue FC’s 2nd round draft pick in the 2010 WPS Draft.

As this trade occurred after close of business CT, the change of registration for players active in WPS cannot be processed by US Soccer.  As such, the involved players cannot be rostered nor play for their new teams in matches this weekend.

May 8, 2009: The Los Angeles Sol traded Kendall Fletcher, Christie Welsh and its second round selection in the 2011 WPS Draft for Saint Louis Athletica’s first round selection in the 2011 WPS Draft and a conditional selection in the 2010 WPS Draft.  If Saint Louis Athletica finishes the 2009 regular season in 1st through 5th place, Saint Louis will give up the rights to its first round selection in the 2010 WPS Draft. However, if Saint Louis finishes the 2009 regular season in 6th or 7th place, Saint Louis will give up the rights to its second round selection in the 2010 WPS Draft.

Jan. 15, 2009: The Boston Breakers have relinquished their rights to Brazil's Maycon.  Following their trade for Alex Scott, this was necessary to comply with the League’s guidelines concerning the rights to International Players.

Jan. 15, 2009: The Chicago Red Stars trade Alex Scott, its 6th Round Pick (41st overall) in the 2009 WPS Draft and its 10th Round Pick (69th overall) in the 2009 WPS Draft to the Boston Breakers for the 2nd Round Pick (14th overall) in the 2009 WPS Draft and the 4th Round Pick (28th overall) in the 2009 WPS Draft.
