WPS Camps Proud to Announce Partnership with Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club
Update: Carrie Dew to be the featured player in Carlsbad, California!
Carrie Dew WPS is excited to announce that San Diego Native Carrie Dew will be the featured player at the Carlsbad Camp in August! Dew has been with the FC Gold Pride since the league began, and is her second year with the Pride. Last year she started in every game as a center back, scoring her only goal of the season in a matchup against Sky Blue FC that ended in a 1-1 draw. This year she has already tallied one goal and one assist for the Pride. She has been on the international scene since 2006, and currently is in the U-23 National Team Player Pool.

Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club is one of seventeen exclusive clubs across the nation selected to host a WPS Camp this summer. From August 2nd to 6th, the camp will be held in Aviara Park, and is open to all other clubs and players in the area.

The decision to host a WPS Camp comes in conjunction with Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club announcing last month the formation of its Carlsbad Elite program. This program offers college-bound soccer players an opportunity to compete in the prestigious Coast Soccer League, with more than 2,200 teams and 35,000 players. It is one of the first of its kind in San Diego County to offer an overall comprehensive program for all its elite players to participate in this league.

"Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club is pleased to partner with Women's Professional Soccer to offer our elite girls soccer players a unique camp experience through training with the pros as well as the core values of teamwork and leadership,” said Jimmy Murphy, Director of the Carlsbad Elite Soccer Program.

The goal at Lightning Soccer for all 56 of its teams and more than 1,250 female players is to offer the best environment to enhance their game with comprehensive training and a progressive path of long-term player growth and premier team development. This matches with the WPS Camps philosophy to provide a dynamic and challenging environment, while embodying the core values Murphy touches upon both on and off the field.

Registration is now open for the WPS Camp, hosted by Carlsbad Lightning Soccer Club from August 2nd to August 6th. Visit www.WPSCamps.com to sign up today!
