Womensprosoccer.com and seven WPS teams re-launch websites
Comprehensive League Website for Women’s Professional Soccer Features New Look, Real-Time Score Updates, and Emphasis on Photo and Video Content

SAN FRANCISCO (April 20, 2009) – Women’s Professional Soccer re-launched its new website this past weekend, along with the sites of its seven founding WPS clubs, giving soccer fans a new look, easily accessible real-time score updates, an emphasis on photo and video content and an improved navigation across the network.

Www.womensprosoccer.com and its affiliated team sites are the fans’ leading resource for information on Women’s Professional Soccer. With the re-launch, we laid a solid foundation for our network so that we can continue to integrate new features to provide the most compelling user experience possible,” said WPS Commissioner Tonya Antonucci. “Our traffic numbers have grown impressively since the league launch with record numbers on the day of the WPS Inaugural Match, and we look forward to keeping that momentum going with the re-launch of www.womensprosoccer.com.”

The new WPS sites feature unique, real-time content, including the WPS Match Tracker, live score updates, rich photo and video components, player and coach interviews, and an e-commerce area: ShopWPS.com.  In the coming weeks more features will be integrated into womensprosoccer.com including a more pronounced focus on statistics and interactive elements such as the ability to comment on and rate content.  A WPS Fantasy Game will be incorporated for the 2010 season.

“It’s important that fans have a site that is informative, engaging and visual,” says Antonucci. “Our ultimate goal is to be the most comprehensive site covering professional soccer for women in the world: a one stop-shop for the sport.”

To re-launch the sites, WPS teamed with Seattle-based Cypress Consulting (www.cypressconsulting.net), a business consulting, technology and creative services firm, to architect and implement the entire Web infrastructure for the league, including individual team sites.  Cypress  Consulting is nationally recognized for its recent work with PBS to launch the new PBS KIDS GO! online video player, as well as  its role in helping dozens of athletic teams and organizations, including the Seattle Supersonics, New Orleans Saints, FSN, and Seattle Seahawks develop innovative, feature-rich Websites.
