WPS Camps is proud to announce that Washington Freedom goalkeeper Brianna Scurry will make a WPS Player Appearance in Blaine, MN, during the WPS Camp that runs from August 3 - August 7. 

About Briana Scurry:  Scurry, who is from Dayton, MN, was the starter for the USWNT from 1994-99 and at the 2003 Women’s World Cup, and is the most capped goalkeeper in USWNT history with 173 caps. She was a member of 1999 Women’s World Cup champion U.S. squad, playing every minute of the tournament and allowing only 3 goals, and a member of 1996 and 2004 gold medal winning U.S. squads at Olympic Games in Atlanta and Athens, Greece, respectively.  She played every minute of both tournaments.

March 24, 2009 -- The Blaine Soccer Club, MN, today became the second host partner club in two days to schedule a WPS Camp.  The camp will run from August 3 - August 7.

The Blaine Soccer Club was founded in the late 70’s and has approximately 1,000 players per season. The club is home to the famous Blaine Soccer Complex, which is part of the world’s largest amateur sports complex, with 52 soccer fields (the WPS Camp will be held there also).

Blaine Soccer Club hopes many female players in the area will attend the camp with the goal of promoting quality girl-specific programming. “We are fully committed to developing our girls’ program and providing unique opportunities to aid their development, said Blaine Soccer Club Director of Coaching Scott MacLeod. “We are all very excited about the camp and the league as an introduction and focal point for our girls to strive towards.”

Blaine Soccer Club is a community based recreational and traveling soccer club with programs that are open to all residents of Independent School District #16 and #11 as well as other surrounding communities. Blaine Soccer Club is affiliated with the City of Blaine Park and Recreation Department and the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA).

Women's Professional Soccer

The mission of Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) is to be the premier women’s soccer league in the world and the global standard by which women’s professional sports are measured.  The Inaugural Season kicked off on March 29 and runs through August 22, 2009, with WPS teams based in the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Jersey/New York, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C.  The league’s eighth franchise, Philadelphia, will begin play next season with Atlanta expected to join as the ninth team in 2010, as well.
