BRIDGEVIEW, ILL. - August 2, 2009 - The Los Angeles Sol (Women's Professional Soccer) fell to the Chicago Red Stars 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Toyota Park.

The Red Stars opened the scoring in the 10th minute on a strike from U.S. National Team midfielder Carli Lloyd and carried their 1-0 advantage in the interval.  Just after the break, another U.S. international hit home for the hosts; this time Lindsay Tarpley found the net behind Sol 'keeper Karina LeBlanc to double the lead to 2-0.

The Sol pulled a goal back in the 90th minute when Chinese international forward Han Duan collected a pass from team captain and U.S. international Shannon Boxx, but, with the Sol pushing for an equalizer, Brazilian Cristiane clinched it for Chicago in added time.
