Laura has been working in sports medicine for over 10 years. She was named Head Athletic Trainer for the Chicago Red Stars in February of 2009. Laura joins the Red Stars as an employee of Athletico. She is thrilled to be a part of this new endeavor for Women’s Professional Soccer especially here in Chicago.
Prior to working with the Red Stars Laura spent three years as the Associate Athletic Trainer for Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL. During her time at Lake Forest, Laura was responsible for the complete care of the men’s and women’s soccer teams while balancing four other fall teams. She also worked with the head athletic trainer to provide coverage for additional eight sports teams throughout the year.
A native of Gurnee, IL Laura attended Carmel High School in Mundelein, IL. It was there that her passion for athletic training began, as she volunteered as a student athletic training aide.
Laura went on to earn her degree in Athletic Training from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. During her time there, Laura worked most closely with the men’s soccer and men’s basketball teams including the 2003 Final Four qualifying men’s basketball team led by Dwayne Wade. Her dedication earned her an internship with the Milwaukee Wave, Milwaukee’s professional men’s soccer team, during their 2006 season.
Laura is a certified by the NATABOC and is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Illinois. She is a member of the National, Great Lakes, and Illinois Athletic Trainers Associations as well as the Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundation. Laura is also an Approved Clinical Instructor in Athletic Training.
Laura currently resides in Chicago with her sister Mary and her niece Isabel. She loves living in the Windy City and is an avid Chicago sports fan but will always root for her Marquette Golden Eagles. Laura keeps no secrets about her favorite part of the job, “Game Day”.
