Joe Cummings receives first WPS All-Star jersey

Joe Cummings, President and General Manager of the Boston Breakers, is leaving WPS to become the CEO and Executive Director of the NSCAA. Commissioner Tonya Antonucci thanks Cummings for his service, and awards him with the #1 WPS All-Star jersey.

Marta, Sinclair lead WPS All-Stars over Umea IK

Marta and Christine Sinclair led the WPS All-Stars to a 4-2 win over Swedish national champion Umea IK in the WPS All-Star Game presented by the Coast Guard on Sunday, Aug. 30 at The Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo. Marta, the Los Angeles Sol forward and 2009 Michelle Akers WPS Player of the Year, scored a goal and added two assists while FC Gold Pride forward Christine Sinclair struck for a pair of goals. The Boston Breakers' Kristine Lilly also scored for the WPS All-Stars who were victorious in the inaugural WPS All-Star Game.

Marta, Boxx help Sol down Breakers, 2-1

The Boston Breakers fell, 2-1, to the Los Angeles Sol on Sunday, Aug. 9 at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass. The loss ended the Breakers season as they needed a win to advance to the WPS Playoffs. Marta and Shannon Boxx struck for the Sol while Kelly Smith netted Boston's lone goal.
