Amy LePeilbet and U.S. Women’s National Team Set to Play Germany

Westwood, Mass. (October 29, 2009)- After spending the last nine days training in Germany, the U.S. Women’s National team will face international foe Germany this afternoon at Impuls Arena in Augsburg, Germany, one of the venues for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The matchup between the top two teams in current FIFA Women’s World Rankings will kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
The game featuring the reigning Olympic Champions, the U.S. and the reigning World Cup Champions, Germany, will be the first meeting of the two teams since January 2007 and the first time the U.S. has played on Germany soil since the summer of 2000. The U.S. leads the series 16 games to nine.
Today’s match will be the team’s first appearance following the completion of the inaugural WPS campaign. The U.S. Women’s National Team roster features 17 players from the first season of Women’s Professional Soccer. Breakers’ defender and WPS Defender-of-the-Year Amy LePeilbet will help anchor the U.S. in the back.
