• The WPS All-Stars defeated Swedish national champion, Umea IK, in the first annual WPS All-Star Game, 4-2.
• Umea IK jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but the WPS All-Stars responded with four unanswered goals.
• Both Los Angeles Sol forward Marta (one goal, two assists) and FC Gold Pride forward Christine Sinclair (two goals) made strong impacts on the game.
• Three Athletica players in goalkeeper Hope Solo, defender Tina Ellertson and midfielder Lori Chalupny played in front of 4,115 hometown fans. Saint Louis's Eniola Aluko was also named to the WPS All-Star roster but missed the match while she competed for England at the Euros.
• The Los Angeles Sol led all teams with five all-star selections: goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc, midfielders Camille Abily, Shannon Boxx and Aya Miyama and forward Marta. Abily also missed the All-Star Game due to playing for France at the Euros.
