Sky Blue FC Adds Two Televised Games on Universal Sports

Somerset, N.J. (May 6, 2009) – Sky Blue FC announced today that two of its upcoming Women’s Professional Soccer games will be televised on Universal Sports in the New Jersey/New York and Los Angeles areas. The preeminent multiplatform destination for Olympic and lifestyle sports programming, Universal Sports will televise the upcoming home-and-home series between Sky Blue FC and the Los Angeles Sol.

Universal Sports (in partnership with NBC) is the top destination for Olympic Sports all year round. The network has coverage in over 30 million digital cable households and over 5.2 million users online through a partner network of over 30 top endemic sport sites.

The first match, in Los Angeles, will be televised on Friday, May 15th at 10:30 p.m. ET. The rematch, featuring the return of Brazilian star Marta to New Jersey, will be aired on Saturday, June 13th at 7 p.m. ET.

With the two added telecasts, four of the next six Sky Blue FC games will be broadcast on television with the other two appearing on Fox Soccer Channel as part of the WPS Sunday on FSC programming. Sky Blue FC will appear on FSC this Sunday at 6 p.m. ET when it travels to Chicago to face the Red Stars in a rematch. The two teams tied 0-0 on April 19th in a match also televised on FSC.

The other Fox Soccer Channel matchup will feature Sky Blue FC against Kelly Smith and the Boston Breakers on May 31st at 6 p.m.

Rampone, O'Reilly Selected to USWNT Roster vs. Japan

Sky Blue FC players Christie Rampone and Heather O'Reilly have been called in by United States Women's National Team head coach Pia Sundhage for international friendly matches against Japan on May 20th and 23rd. The two players will miss Sky Blue FC's matchup against the Washington Freedom on Saturday, May 23rd at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C.

Rampone and O'Reilly were selected for the 21-player roster that will face Japan on May 20 at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas (8:30 p.m. ET) and on May 23 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah (6 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Espanol). Washington Freedom forward Abby Wambach was also picked and will miss the match against Sky Blue FC.

Rampone, who recently returned from a strained hamstring to make her second appearance in a Sky Blue FC uniform last Sunday, leads the team against Japan with the most appearances at 215. O'Reilly has 112 caps for the USWNT.
