CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (April 24, 2010) – FC Gold Pride (2-1-0, 6 points) notched a 2-1 win over the expansion Atlanta Beat (0-2-1, 1 point) Saturday evening in Castro Valley, Calif. as midfielder Carrie Dew tallied the game-winning goal in the 89th minute.

With the scored tied at 1-1, second half substitute Kiki Bosio took a flip throw-in deep on the left sideline which a Beat player headed but it went to the FC Gold Pride’s Ali Riley on the right side of the 18-yard box.  Riley flicked the ball back in front of the goal and Dew leapt to nod it over Beat goalkeeper Allison Whitworth from five yards out to give FC Gold Pride the win.

FC Gold Pride got the scoring started in the 10th minute as midfielder Camille Abily found Tiffeny Milbrett making a well-timed run through the Beat defense.  Milbrett placed her low shot into the left side to give the Gold Pride a 1-0 lead.  The goal was Milbrett’s first of the season.

The Beat knotted the score at 1-1 in the 24th minute as Angie Kerr slipped a pass to Monica Ocampo who split the FC Gold Pride defense.  Ocampo slotted her shot past FC Gold Pride goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart to tally her first goal of the year.

Atlanta’s Tobin Heath, the top pick in the 2010 WPS Draft, left the match in the 20th minute with a right ankle injury.  She left the stadium on crutches and will be evaluated on Sunday.

FC Gold Pride recorded back-to-back wins for the first time in team history having defeated Sky Blue FC, 3-1, last weekend.

FC Gold Pride travels to New Jersey to face Sky Blue FC on Saturday, May 1 in a game that will be televised by Fox Soccer Channel (6pm ET/3pm PT).  The Atlanta Beat, meanwhile, conclude their four-game road trip on Saturday, May 1 in Philadelphia as they face the Independence at 6pm ET/3pm PT.
