Fans enjoy the Puma Cube experience at the WPS All-Star Game Fan Fest.
FENTON, Mo. (Aug. 30, 2009) – Fans of Women’s Professional Soccer, both young and old, enjoyed the WPS All-Star Game presented by U.S. Coast Guard Fan Fest on the fields of the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park Sunday afternoon.
The Fan Fest featured the Puma Cube interactive area, a chance for fans to sample Hint Water, an opportunity to pose for photos with the Budweiser Clydesdales, live music and several tents featuring several local food vendors. There were also a handful of inflatables testing fans’ various skills lined up along another field.
Local youth player Hailee Jabaux, 9, was attending her third WPS game, and was very excited about getting to see the best players in the league in one place. “This is really cool; so many good players will be on the field.”
Peyton Corley, also 9, used to play on the same team as Jabaux and was attending the game with her. “There’s so much cool stuff to do here. You can make your own glasses; they can be crazy or funky or whatever you want.”
Chicago Red Stars President Peter Wilt was among those listening to the live music in the Fan Fest area and enjoying themselves. “I am a kid at heart and there is something for everyone here … in fact, I was just embarrassed by two little girls who kicked the ball harder than me, but at least I got mine on target.”
Parks Rowe, his two sisters Lucy and Charlotte, were attending with their father. It was Parks’ first WPS experience, and Charlotte’s second, but Lucy, just 7 and the soccer player in the family, has not missed a WPS game in St. Louis this season.
“At first, coming to the games was my dad’s idea, but it has been a lot of fun and there have been so many good moments.”
Surely, there will be many more such moments to come …
