Hi from Norway!
It's winter here in Norway, and by that I mean real winter. There is a lot of snow, my husband actually cross-country skis to work. Unfortunately for me, this weather means it's too cold to train outside. This winter we have had several weeks with around five degrees Fahrenheit, and in Norway, that is the limit for when we can no longer train outside. My toes totally agree on that!!! Right now it's not that cold, but it will still be a while before we can take off the wool tights.
I'm very excited to be a part of the FC Gold Pride family this year. For me, it's a dream come true to move to the US and play professional soccer alongside so many talented players. I have heard that there are lots of great fans at the games, that is awesome! In Norway there aren't many spectators at our matches.
It's a bit crazy to think about moving my family to a new country to play soccer. Our son, Theodor, will be turning four in June, and for him this would be a big change. Right now, we are trying to give him some simple English language lessons. Thanks to Mickey Mouse and the Disney Play House channel he has already learned to count to ten. He knows how to say some colors, and now and I think I need to teach him how to say he needs to use the bathroom… that could be an important thing from the get-go.
We are also doing some research on the internet to see what he can do to make new friends and learn the language. I have already spoken to Brandi, she has a son that is the same age as Theodor so that's really great!
Theodor has told the other children in his kindergarten class that he is going to America, to Mickey Mouse's castle. I think we showed him a picture of the Disneyworld… I hope we didn't raise his expectations too much.
My husband, Espen is a golf fan, so for him this is a dream. He has already checked out all the golf courses online. In Norway, you can only golf from April to October and there are not many golf courses to choose between, so he is really happy. I think he is hoping to make a few friends to play golf with because I don't have the time, and my temper is not meant for sports with a weapon (golf-club).
We are so grateful for this opportunity and we are really looking forward to spending the year in the Bay Area. I know we will have a great year! I'm doing everything I can to prepare for a good performance.
Looking forward to seeing you all in March!
Best regards,
Solveig (Sola) Gulbrandsen
