Read Official Anouncement from WPS
First, I want to thank you for your continued support of FC Gold Pride and Women's Professional Soccer.
It is with mixed emotions that I write today. While the discontinuance of the Los Angeles Sol operations is disappointing, we remain optimistic about the 2010 season and the future of WPS. We want to reassure you that the NeSmith family, Pride staff and team are as committed as ever to building a successful organization and bringing a WPS championship title to the Bay Area. The recent changes that have taken place in the league are in no way a reflection of our team's fiscal status.
As we continue to grow with the league, we pledge to keep you informed of major developments or changes that will affect our team. First and foremost, the dispersal draft next Thursday will allow us to further bolster our roster, adding talented players that we expect will make an immediate impact to our team's performance in 2010.
As you have seen throughout the offseason, we are making vital adjustments to our business and team structure to ensure the success and longevity of our organization. One of the most exciting changes we have made to date, is our move to the “Heart of the Bay”. I would like to invite you to join us at Pioneer Stadium this Saturday (10am-2pm) for an opportunity to get your first peek inside our new home and meet our first round draft pick Ali Riley. Stadium renovations are already underway in preparation for the arrival of our team this spring.
We move forward from today, united by optimism and passion for WPS and the future of this beautiful game.
See you in the stands!
