Albertin Montoya - Head Coach


Albertin Montoya is a distinguished coach, trainer and exceptional player. For the past ten years, Albertin has been coaching and training professional and youth players and teams in the Bay Area. Most recently, Albertin was the assistant trainer for the 2003 San Jose CyberRays.

Collegiate Career:

Albertin was recruited by many colleges and universities, including Santa Clara, UCLA, USF, Virginia and North Carolina State. He attended North Carolina and Santa Clara. His collegiate achievements include:

  • Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) First Team Selection
  • Selected for the U-21 National Team to compete in France
  • Invited to play in the World University Games in Japan
  • West Coast Conference (WCC) First Team Selection
  • Finalist for the Hermann Award and Missouri Athletic Club Award given annually to the top collegiate player in the US
  • Selected to play in the US Olympic Festival
  • Member of the US Olympic squad


Youth Play:

  • 5-time State Cup Championship
  • Member of the State ODP and Regional IV ODP teams

Personal:

Albertin resides in Mountain View, California; and is married to the former Erin Martinez, an equally impressive soccer player at Santa Clara University and member of the San Diego Spirit of WUSA.  The couple of two children, Daugher Ali (five) and son Michael (14 months)

Sisleide Lima Do Amor - Assistant Coach


Sisleide Lima Do Amor, most commonly known as Sissi, brings years of playing and coaching experience to the Bay Area team. She began playing soccer at the age of seven and at the age of 14 she left her home in the small town of Esplanada to play professionally in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Brazil National team contacted her when she was 16 and her impressive accomplishments as a player include:
  • Participation in two Olympics
  • Participation in three World Cups
  • Receiving the Silver Ball from FIFA for achieving the title of “Second Best Player in the World” ( 1999)
  • Receiving the Golden Boot from FIFA for being the leading scorer in the 1999 World Cup
  • “Best Female South American  Player” recognition
  • An international draft pick by the San Jose CyberRays, WUSA
  • Lead the CyberRays to the Inaugural Championship in 2001
  • Selected to the First Team WUSA each three years playing on the CyberRays
  • Humanitarian of the Year for the WUSA, 2002
  • Named FIFA Ambassador, 2005
  • Selected to the Organizing Committee for U- 20 and U- 17 Women’s World Cup by  FIFA
  • MVP for the WPSL in 2004, 2008 ( Pacific Division)


Coaching Career:

While coaching in Brazil, Sissi was named the “Best Futsal Coach” leading her team to successive State and National Championships. In America, Sissi began coaching for Diablo Futbol Club (formerly known as Diablo Valley Soccer Club) in 2004 leading her U-16 girls to a Regional title in Idaho.  In 2005, she began coaching for Las Positas Community College in Livermore, California and led the team to a first playoff berth in 2006.

Personal:

Off the field, Sissi is devoted to improving the lives of children in Foster Care, with her and her family having fostered seven children.  Sissi adopted a son in 2008, and is working towards adopting a little girl. Improving the lives of children in Foster Care and playing soccer have helped her fulfill her dreams. She is excited to help lead the Bay Area team into a remarkable season and make this league and its players a success.

Jay Cooney - Goalkeeper Coach


Cooney brings more than 10 years of coaching experience to the team, including six seasons as a Goalkeeper Coach with Stanford University’s Women’s team. Since joining Stanford, he has helped the Cardinal consistently rank in the top-30 in goals-against-average in NCAA Division I competition, achieving the nation’s best GAA in 2004 (.432), and second-best in 2008 (.317). Cooney has also mentored FC Gold Pride goalkeeper, two-time NCAA All-American and current U.S. National Team goalkeeper, Nicole Barnhart, during her tenure at Stanford, helping her to the nation’s third-best GAA (.440) in 2004.

Prior to joining Stanford, Cooney served as the Goalkeeper Coach for the San Jose CyberRays (2001-2003) where he helped the team capture the inaugural WUSA Championship. Under Cooney’s direction, San Jose goalkeeper LaKeysia Beene was honored as the 2001 WUSA Goalkeeper of the Year.

Before relocating to the Bay Area, the Boston native served as an assistant coach at the College of William & Mary in Virginia. He was also a coach in his hometown, serving as assistant coach at Providence College, as well as an assistant coach for the Greater Boston Bolts. He was also the practice goalkeeper for the Boston Bulldogs, a Major League Soccer (MLS) affiliated A-League team.

While his focus will now turn to FC Gold Pride for the team’s inaugural season, Cooney will continue to serve as an Assistant Coach at Stanford University, a post he has held since 2003.

Cooney and his wife, Greta, live in Menlo Park. The couple has a son, Finn.
