Atlanta Beat hosts local area tryouts

The Atlanta Beat will host open, local area tryouts Nov. 21-22.
Atlanta, GA (Oct. 21, 2009) – Atlanta Beat General Manager Shawn McGee announced Nov. 21-22 as official dates for the first Atlanta Beat local area tryouts on the game field at Kennesaw State University.
The opportunity is open to any interested player (must be at least age 18 by March 1, 2010) who completed the online registration form by Friday, Nov. 13. Cost to tryout is $100.
All tryout information including game times and team assignments will be posted on the
Atlanta Beat tryout page by Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Prospective players will compete in at least two games over the weekend with goalkeepers gaining an additional showcase opportunity during the goalkeeper-only session with Russ Stroud, Atlanta Beat Goalkeeper Coach, on the morning of Saturday Nov. 21.
“We are excited to see the type of players we attract through local area tryouts,” said Head Coach Gareth O’Sullivan. “Hopefully we will identify some potential roster players who will return for our invite-only tryout in December.”
The Nov. 21-22 tryout is open to all interested players. Any player wishing to join the Atlanta Beat roster must attend the November tryout in order to be considered for the invitation only tryout in December.
IMPORTANT: In order to be eligible to play in Women’s Professional Soccer in 2010, all prospective players must register with the league and make themselves eligible for the 2010 WPS Draft by Jan. 12, 2010. In other words, players who are not draft-eligible on Jan. 15 will not be eligible to make a 2010 WPS roster. Registration for the 2010 WPS Draft can be found at
