Beat still set to play this weekend
by Atlanta Beat - Press Release

Atlanta Beat and league still optimistic on the future of Women's Professional Soccer.
Dear Atlanta Beat Fan,
Today, Women’s Professional Soccer announced the dissolution of Saint Louis Athletica. While this causes some operational issues for the league and for each team within the league, you should know that this challenge only hardens the resolve of the other seven owners and teams in WPS to ensure that this league is successful.
Women’s soccer deserves a place within the national pro sports landscape, and you have our word that we are working hard every day to ensure that your Atlanta Beat and Women’s Professional Soccer are a success.
Obviously, with Saint Louis no longer being a part of the league, the schedule will be affected. The Beat was scheduled to play Saint Louis this Saturday, May 29th at 7:00 p.m. However, this game will not be taking place. Instead, the Atlanta Beat will host the Tampa Bay Hellenic of the United Soccer League W-League at 7:00 p.m. this Saturday.
Please note that season seat holders will receive their full compliment of 12 matches this season once the revised schedule is released. Fans who have purchased advanced tickets for this Saturday’s match will also receive a special discount to another Atlanta Beat game during the 2010 season.
Group seat buyers for the May 29th match will also have the opportunity to attend a future 2010 Atlanta Beat home game.
For more details regarding seats to an Atlanta Beat Women’s Professional Soccer game, call 678.298.4780.
The league is working hard to keep any schedule changes to a minimum, so we will follow-up with you as soon as possible regarding any new game dates. We anticipate the Tuesday, June 1 release of a revised WPS schedule.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this situation may have caused you. You have our commitment to assist in any way possible as we strive to make your experience with our club an incredible one. If you have any questions regarding your tickets, please contact your Manager of Crowd Building. Thanks for your continued support of your Atlanta Beat.
Sincerely,
Shawn McGee
General Manager & COO
About the Atlanta Beat
The Atlanta Beat joins Women’s Professional Soccer as one of two expansion teams in the 2010 season. Atlanta entrepreneur Fitz Johnson secured the rights to the Atlanta team in September 2008 before naming Shawn McGee as General Manager and Gareth O’Sullivan as Head Coach in the summer of the following year. On June 18, 2009, the Atlanta Beat officially became the ninth franchise in WPS as Johnson, McGee, WPS Commissioner Tonya Antonucci and former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin unveiled the team name, logo and colors. The Beat acquired its first official players through the 2009 WPS Expansion Draft and 2009 International Draft in mid-September before completing its roster with the 2010 WPS Draft in January. Atlanta’s new team takes on the same name as the market’s former Women’s United Soccer Association club which was the only WUSA team to reach the playoffs in every season. The Beat's colors are Ferrari Red, Championship Gold, and Black.
